Áine Nic an Ríogh

Architect

Dr Áine Nic an Ríogh is a Registered RIAI Architect involved in both Domestic & Commercial work, in particular one-off individual houses ranging from contemporary new builds to the refurbishment of protected structures. Since 2016 she has worked as the Principal Architect at VCL Consultants a multi-disciplinary design practice specialising in cohesive architectural and engineering design.

A graduate of the UCD School of Architecture, over the past 10 years Áine has worked as an architect while also focusing on research and lecturing in professional practice, architectural history and acoustics. Áine also holds a Diploma in Construction Project Management from Trinity College Dublin and is accredited in Conservation at Grade III (RIAI).

In 2016 Áine was awarded a PhD in Architecture for her research on music, architecture and acoustics in Eighteenth-Century Irish Country Houses. As part of this research Áine ran a highly successful series of concerts in country houses and set up her own production company to produce @TheDrawingRoom an exciting project designed to develop the public’s awareness of architecture, culture and heritage through a series of events in some of Dublin’s finest Georgian townhouses. 

Alongside her architectural work Áine is an accomplished violinist and pianist. She continues to promote the development of young professional musicians and is secretary of the Dublin Philharmonic Society.

Áine is a Finalist in RTE’s Home of the Year 2026.
